Mission

Raise Up2 Rise (RU2R)  mission is to educate, elevate, empower and engage youth in Baltimore by offering out-of-school time activities, financial literacy, and physical fitness, mental health, and social advancement.

Vision

Our vision is to create a community of self-aware citizens who are strong leaders, activists, and critical and creative thinkers who use their intellect, talents, perseverance, and determination to make their lives, schools, communities and, ultimately, the world a better place.

Our Curriculum

STEM

One of the ways campers participate in STEM is by gardening.  Campers apply reasoning, discovery and cooperation by caring for plants, learning about cause and effect (for example, plants die without water, weeds compete with plants), learning about the science of plants, animals, weather, the environment, nutrition and simple construction and participating in activities that inspire shared play and teamwork.

Campers gain knowledge of the Engineering Design Process and the Scientific Method while performing hands on science experiments.  Through various fun activities, the campers are encouraged to ask questions, gather information and observe (research), make a hypothesis (guess the answer), experiment and test a hypothesis, analyze test results, and present a conclusion.

Campers work with other members in the community and learn responsibility, gain understanding and develop a love of nature

Art

Campers will be introduced to the work of different artists from around the world. They will develop their own original artwork by observing famous artists and listening to stories of different artists.

Campers present their art work to their family, friends and community at the closing program.

 Drama

Campers participate in opportunities that inspire the use of their imagination through role-playing situations , acting out imaginary scenarios, or demonstrating  fictitious images for the purposes of insight and growth by exploring, discussing and dealing with difficult issues and how to express their emotions in a supportive environment.
